My Langford Family Connections

Here are the descendants of Stephen Lang(s)ford(#2704) (bc1650), of Creed, Cornwall. His descendants lived in Creed, St Austell and St Mewan for some five generations. Then Peter Langford (#76) was born at St Ives in 1809.

Peter joined HM Excise service in 1827 and in 1832 he met and married Sarah Ann Notten (#77) of Market Lavington in Wiltshire. Peter spent a full career being posted to many posts throughout the South coast of England and three places in Ireland.

Upon retirement, Peter and his family moved to St Helier in Jersey Island. Peter's Daughter, Catherine Louisa Langford (#73) met Philippe Vautier (#72) in St Helier. He was an Auctioneer and lawyer's clerk. In 1871 they married at St Brelade and moved into St Helier. In 1874 they emigrated to New Zealand on the "Dallam Tower" with their three children. The two boys, Philip (#79) and Edwin (#80), died enroute to New Zealand.
